Walt Disney® World Vacation Tips

If you booked your vacation with Global Dream Vacations then you already have one of the best tip tools around, the Passporter!  If you booked your trip with another agency (shame on you!) then go to www.passporter.com  and order yourself a copy!  Not only does this wonderful book have tremendous tips, it serves as a great journal and memory keepsake of your vacation.

Park Information

  • Do you really know how big Disney World is?   It is bigger than New York City, Miami, and San Francisco!
  • Purchase Pal Mickey for $60, and he will share tips, trivia and more while visiting all the theme parks. More...
  • Gum is not sold at any Disney resort, or any Disney park, nor at the airport.  This is to avoid the mess that gum creates at parks.  If you want gum, you better bring it from home.
  • Alcohol is not served at all in the Magic Kingdom.  You can purchase beer and mixed drinks at any of the other parks, and at the resorts.
  • Do you want to ride one of the popular rides, but you don't want to stand in a long line?  Then use Disney's FASTPASS.   This is a free service to all park guests.  You simply slip your park pass into the FASTPASS machine near the ride and you will receive a ticket that tells you when to come back.  When you come back enter the FASTPASS lane, show your FASTPASS and walk on in.  There still may be a short wait, depending on how many people return at the same time you do.
  • Each park has lockers you can rent for small fee.  Save your receipt, and you can get a locker at another park on the same day.
  • Strollers and wheelchairs can be rented in each park.  These are limited in supply so be sure to arrive early.  Be sure to keep your receipt if you plan to visit another park on the same day.
  • Shop all you want and have your purchase delivered to your room.  No more hauling packages all over the park, and not knowing what to do with them when you want to enjoy a ride.  Not all stores have this delivery option, so please inquire before making your purchase.
  • Smoking is prohibited in most parks.  Look for designated smoking areas on your park map.

Resort Information

  • If you stay at a Walt Disney World Resorts, you can enter certain parks one hour earlier than everyone else!
  • No matter which resort you stay at, you can visit and eat at any of the other resorts.
  • Place a wake up call request and have Mickey or one of his pals wake you up in the mornings.
  • Most resorts sell refillable cups that can be refilled either for free, or for a small fee while at your resorts food court or snack shop.   These mugs can only be used at the resort you bought it from, not at any of the parks, or any of the other resorts.
  • Only the Deluxe resorts offer room service.
  • Hot tubs are located at the Deluxe and Moderate resorts only, with the Polynesian being the only exception
  • Tipping - It is customary tip your valet parking attendant about $2 upon arrival and departure, bellmen about $1 - $2 per bag, for delivery and pick-up, and housekeeping about $2-3 per day.  (please leave this in your room with a Thank You note each day of stay)
  • Each resort offers a store to match the theme of the resort, with unique items available only at that store.
  • Each resort also offers a themed food court area.
  • You can request a small refrigerator be placed in your room.  Cost is about $10 per night.  Make this request when you book your vacation.
  • General check-in time is 3pm, and check-out is 11am.  But don't let this worry you!  You can check in at any time, and if your room isn't ready you can leave your bags with the bellman, who will give you a claim check and lock your bags up until you return.   Same for the day you check-out.  You can check-out in the morning, leave your bags at the resort, go and enjoy the parks and return to pick-up your bags when you are ready to return home.

Dinner Shows

  • Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at the Fort Wilderness is a rip-roarin', rootin', tootin', down-home vaudeville-style revue that you can watch while enjoying a wonderful dinner bufffet
  • Mickey's Backyard Barbecue at Fort Wilderness enjoy a hearty country picnic, with a full line-up of line-dancin', western-singin', rope-trickin', kid-friendly entertainment
  • Disney's Spirit of Aloha Show at the Polynesian.  Enjoy a south pacfic themed dinner and show
